GENTLY ROLLING & FAST: Starting from the Von Braun Center downtown Huntsville, AL, the course heads west before making an 11 mile loop through the southwest part of town, showcased by running through the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and Huntsville Botanical Gardens. After returning to the downtown area, the course runs northeast and makes a 10 mile loop through scenic residential streets and the historic districts of Dallas Mill Village, Five Points and Old Town. The course finishes downtown running through the large antebellum homes of the Twickenham District at Big Spring Park for a celebration in the VBC. Course sentries located at all turns and course is permanently marked. Police controlled intersections and restricted traffic on the course patrolled by the police. Communications along the course provided by the Huntsville Amateur Radio Club. All turns and mile markers are painted on the streets and split timers will have mileage posted on large flags. Aid stations every 2 to 3 miles plus numerous port-o-let locations on the course. HEMSI will provide medical support and Century BMW vehicles provide pickup for those who need assistance. Normal low temperature for December 13 is 34, normal high is 53. Six hour time limit.
The course is is still PENDING CERTIFICATION by USATF but will be certified prior to race day as a Boston Qualifier, sanctioned by RRCA, USATF and USATFDPC. Participants may be subject to drug testing.
