GENTLY ROLLING & FAST: Starting from the Von Braun Center and Big Spring Park, downtown Huntsville, AL, the course starts with a tour of downtown, running through the large antebellum homes of the Twickenham District and the downtown courthouse square before heading northeast to make a 10 mile loop through scenic residential streets and the historic districts of Old Town, Dallas Mill Village and Five Points. After returning to the downtown area, the course runs west to make an 11 mile loop through the southwest part of town, showcased by running beneath the rockets at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center and meandering through the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. Returning back downtown the course finishes inside the VBC Arena to a celebration with live music, food and fun indoors. Course sentries are located at all turns and course is permanently marked. Police controlled intersections and restricted traffic on the course patrolled by the police. Communications along the course provided by the Huntsville Amateur Radio Club. All turns and mile markers are painted on the streets and split timers will have mileage posted on large flags. Aid stations every 2 to 3 miles plus numerous port-o-let locations on the course. HEMSI will provide medical support and vehicles provide pickup for those who need assistance. Normal low temperature for December 13 is 34, normal high is 53. Six hour time limit.

Course Certification:
The Rocket City Marathon course is CERTIFIED by USATF, certification number AL14064JD and is Boston Qualifier, sanctioned by RRCA, USATF and USATFDPC. Participants may be subject to drug testing.
