Michael Wardian is an American marathoner and ultra-marathoner. In addition to a lengthy list of podium finishes at marathons, half-marathons, 50k /100k and 100 Mile races, Michael has set world records for the fastest marathon and also 50K on an indoor 200-meter track and dressed as Elvis. 2016 was an incredible year with a 47 events and multiple wins and records including setting the fastest ever time for all the Abbott World Marathon Majors consisting of the Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon, New York Marathon in an average time of 2:31:09. In March 2015, he also set the World Record for the fastest 50K on a treadmill (at the Hoka One One Sales Meeting in May 2015 after having set the World Record on a Spartan Race Cruise)

The Badwater Ultra marathon-135 Miles in Death Valley, CA in July
The Marathon des Sables-appx 150 miles in the Sahara desert in Morocco
The Ultra Trail du Mount Blanc-appx. 100 miles with 28,000 feet of vertical assent travelling through 3 countries, France, Italy and Switzerland
The UVU North Pole Marathon with temperatures dipping below negative 40 Celsius.
The Buff Epic Run in Pyrenees, Spain with over 9000 Meters of ascent
The Diagonale des Fous (Crossing of the Fools), 100 miles with over 32,000 Feet of Ascent, on Reunion Island
In between feats like running two marathons in one day, and setting a world record for the fastest time running a marathon dressed as superhero, Wardian has participated in the 2004, 2008, and 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials Men’s Marathon, recording a personal best of 2:17:49.
Wardian was the IAU Ultra Runner of the Year in 2010, and is a four-time USATF Ultra Runner of the Year from 2008-2011. He also won the 2014 USATF Master’s Athlete of the Year for both Roads and Trails.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University, where he played Division 1 lacrosse, only beginning to run competitively after graduating.
Michael resides in Arlington, Va with his wife, Jennifer and their two sons, Pierce and Grant and their vizsla Rosie.

Rocket City Marathon – Pasta Dinner:
We will be serving a delicious meal of grilled chicken, vegetables and pasta. The buffet will start at 6:00 p.m. and our guest speaker will begin their remarks at 6:30 p.m. The tickets are $25/person for regular seating and $50/person for premium seating. Rocket City Marathon participants can enjoy both the Huntsville Tinsel Trail and Skating in the Park. The Tinsel Trail is a display of live Christmas trees in Downtown Huntsville during the month of December. An anticipated 250 will trees decorate Big Spring Park for the holiday season. This includes large flagship trees and the City of Huntsville tree located at the main entrance of the trail. Skating in the Park is another fun holiday tradition. This 50’x70’ ice rink sits directly behind the Huntsville Museum of Art and will be open seven days a week, including holidays. Concessions and outdoor restrooms will be available on site.
